Texas workers' comp calculator

Texas calls its wage-loss payments temporary income benefits, or TIBs. They pay 70% of the difference between your average weekly wage and what you earn after the injury, or 75% for the first 26 weeks if you earned under $8.50 an hour. The cap resets every October 1: for injuries from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027 it is $1,314 a week, with a $197 minimum.

No TIBs are paid for the first week unless the disability lasts two weeks or longer, and TIBs stop at maximum medical improvement or after 104 weeks. Texas is also the one state where most private employers may opt out of workers' comp, so check that your employer carries coverage.
